Introduction
CFP stands for "Call For Proposals" or "Call For Papers", and in the context of tech conferences refers to the public call for talk submissions.
CFPs are the foundation of tech conferences, including Kaigi on Rails. The conference is only possible thanks to your submissions.
In other words, it's you who makes the conference happen!
You don't need to have anything special to submit a proposal. We believe that your personal experience is valuable in itself. Even if your topic isn't highly technical, it still has a strong chance of being accepted. We look forward to receiving your proposals!
About the CFP
Here are some general criteria we consider when reviewing proposals.
If you're thinking about submitting, please take these into account.
Is the difficulty level appropriate?
Talks that can be enjoyed by a broad audience are highly encouraged. Proposals that are neither too basic nor overly advanced tend to have a higher chance of being selected.
Is the topic relevant?
If your talk relates to Rails or web development, there is a strong chance it will be considered. Talks focused solely on Ruby may be lower priority.
Below are some themes the Kaigi on Rails team is particularly interested in. This list is for reference only — proposals outside of these areas are also welcome.
- Refactoring
- Scalability
- Security
- Application design
- ActiveRecord
- Rails upgrades
- Admin interfaces
- Hotwire
- Frontend development
- Web protocols
- Building gems
- Technical decision-making
- Middleware (DBs, KVSs, etc.)
- Contributing to Rails
- Agile development
- Database design
- Testing

Is there passion?
We place a strong emphasis on the speaker's enthusiasm for their topic. Please share your motivation and why you are the right person to give this talk.
